General Information, What to Bring, Booking Conditions
Kiwi Wilderness Walks has combined with the best local operators in carefully designed itinerary's to ensure that you have an enjoyable and educational journey in the wilderness. Our guides are dedicated to your safety and satisfaction. Our goal is to provide you with a great outdoor experience.

We have regular departures starting from early November to late April. For our departure dates and prices please see Dates and Prices tab under each Track description. We will operate on demand any time of the year for a minimum of three people. Our groups are generally 4 to 5 people with a maximum of six on most trips.

Our trips are all inclusive so really all you need to bring are your own personal belongings and hiking gear. We can cater for special dietary requirements but please discuss this with us before you arrive. We are able to store extra luggage for you while you enjoy your hike.

What to Bring
A good pair of comfortable walking boots or shoes is essential. We do have wet weather gear and backpacks available for your use please advise us in advance if you may require these. Some people find gaiters and walking sticks (poles) helpful.

The following list provides a guide for your packing;

Pair of shorts, trousers.
Thick woolen or fleece top.
Thermal long johns and shirt.
Socks, underwear and handkerchief.
Warm hat and light gloves.
Waterproof coat with hood.
Favourite boots or walking shoes.
Pair of light shoes or sandals.
Small personal torch or head lamp, water bottle.
Personal medicine, toilet bag
Insect repellent, sun block.
Camera and spare batteries.
Pack with waterproof liner to carry all of above.

Booking Conditions

  1. 25% deposit is required to confirm a booking. Payment in full is due 30 days before departure. Bookings are essential.
  2. Children aged 10 - 15 must be accompanied by an adult. The tracks are not recommended for children under 10.
  3. Bookings can be transferred to a future date but not between people.
  4. In the event of cancellation with more than 14 days notice a 25% cancellation fee applies. With 14 days or less notice, no refund can be made except with a medical certificate.
  5. The operators reserve the right to alter, amend or cancel any tour, should weather or any other situation demand subject to any rights and remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
  6. This is a wilderness trip with an element of danger attached. Kiwi Wilderness Walks, Tuatara Investments Ltd, its agents or operators will not be liable for any injury, damage, loss or delay by reason of weather or defect.
  7. We recommend customers arrange their own travel insurance.
